The Irish full-back was booked in the 37th minute of the match, as his flailing arm connected with an opponent, just three minutes after Seb Palmer-Houlden handed Newport the lead. It was McClean's eighth yellow card of the season and is now just two bookings short of picking up a two-match suspension.

According to League Two rules, a player will be suspended for two straight games if he collects 10 yellow cards in the first 37 games of a season. The duration of the suspension will be increased to three games if a player gets booked 15 times before the final of the regular season.
