Queens Park Rangers will not allow Luke Freeman to leave this month and are insistent that he is going nowhere, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.
What’s the word?
Luke Freeman has attracted a wealth of attention over the course of recent months and QPR stood firm to retain his services during the close-season transfer window, although speculation has suggested a number of sides are still keen on a loan deal.
Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and West Brom have all been attributed with interest in the former Arsenal man, as reported by The Evening Standard earlier this summer, but a move for the 26-year-old appears to be off the table.
Steve McClaren is desperate to retain the services of the creative midfielder and QPR will be all to aware that Freeman could prove to be decisive in their battle away from the drop-zone in the months ahead, after finding themselves rock-bottom of the Championship after three defeats in a row.
Saturday’s 7-1 drubbing at the hands of West Brom has only increased the pressure on McClaren’s side – and losing Freeman would lead to mutiny.
How important is Freeman?
Signed in 2017, Freeman has made 61 appearances for QPR and has returned seven goals – five of which came last season as he cemented himself as a crucial player for the West London side, missing just one of the club’s 46 league matches.

Now 26, Freeman is approaching the prime years of his career and QPR would certainly be looking at a fierce relegation battle if he was to be lured away on a loan-to-buy agreement by another Championship side – and it would also send entirely the wrong message to the supporters after a disastrous start to the new season.
Tied down with a contract at Loftus Road until 2020, per TransferMarkt, Freeman could push for a move in January or at the end of the season when a sale may be considered as he would have entered the final 18 months of his deal.
