Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup last night at the hands of Premier League rivals Chelsea. Goals from Willian and Ross Barkley sealed the deal (BBC Sport) but the Evertonians are divided in their opinion of the ex-Blue.
Chelsea progress into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a valiant performance from Frank Lampard’s side. Liverpool seemingly struggled to get out of second gear, failing to put away any chances they created.
The game was put to bed in the second half after former Everton player Barkley struck in the 64th minute to double the home side’s lead. The Merseyside-born Barkley celebrated emphatically, elated that he scored against his bitter rivals.
“Scoring against Liverpool is massive for me. As an Everton fan, it’s always a dream to score against them,” Barkley proudly told reporters at the end of the match (BBC via Standard).
Loads of Toffees are absolutely buzzing over the 26-year-old’s post-match comments, with some wishing he would come back to Merseyside and one even admitting that he is capable of “unbelievable things.”
However, a lot of Everton fans couldn’t care less and have washed their hands of Barkley. Here is what some said on Twitter…
